ABOUT AIDA

BEFORE

...Two new experiences came along at the age of four. First of all I went to school. When
my daddy and my mommy took me to school I was so afraid but a little excited at the same time.
Pre-kinder school was fun and simple.
The second wonderful thing that happened to me was I got a new baby brother! He was so cute!
We were all so happy. My parents named him Leonardo after my daddy. I always wanted
to pick Leonardo up but I was still only four years old and my mommy was afraid I would drop
him.

At five years old I went to kindergarten. It was a private school. My teacher was really nice
and I had a lot of friends. Un day close to Christmas, Santa Claus come to our school and gave
every body presents. I got a big Mickey Mouse ball! which was so big I could hardly hold it
Also my class had a Christmas play. my part was an Indian.

At the adventurous age of six I started first grade. I thought the school was really neat.
Each building in the school was a classroom and if the weather was warm we could eat outside.
I always liked to get ice cream from a little stand that was in the middle of the school,
they also had popsicles, potato chips, and thing like that. Anyway after a month of first
grade we moved again. The government of Ecuador wanted to send a diplomat (my dad) to U.S. at
least for five years. I was really sad to leave all my friends and all my relatives and have
to start all over again in some new country. so we came here to Silver Spring, Maryland and
we moved into Peppertree Farm. My mom and dad then put me into Strathmore Elementary.
The first few months of first grade were hard because I didn't know any English so I couldn't
communicate with the other kids or Miss hudson my teacher. So then I went to ESOL class and I
started to learn English.
By second grade I knew perfect English and I got along with the kids. That's when Elicia Mc.
and I started to be friends. Mrs. Robey our teacher was really nice to me. She never ever got
mad at me. She was the best teacher I ever had.
In the third grade, our teacher Miss Young was so nice. every friday she told us stories about
herself when she was a teenager. most of them were pretty scary and sometimes I wonder whether
they were true or not. Anyway she always asked two or three people to bring something to eat
on Friday. The 'thing' was what Miss young called the party we had was held at 2:00 pm. But
there was one thing she told us to do, not to tell anybody that was not from our class about
the 'thing' because then they would probably be jealous.
Now fourth grade was different from all the other grades. During this year Heather D. came
to our school and we became good friends. Also we started to have homework, second of all in
social studies we started to learn about different countries specially Japan.
Then came fifth grade. I hardly was at school for the whole year. I was only there up to January
because my family and I went to Italy! the reason we went there is because my dad was invited
by the italian government to a diplomatic seminar.
